Thanks for visiting! A quick bit about me: First off, no, I am NOT Jake Brown the Skateboarder, I’m the music biographer. Since 2001, I have had 30+ music-related books published by a variety of publishers including Hal Leonard Publishing, Double Day Books, ECW Press, Amber Books, John Blake Publishing Co., BearManor Media, Rock ‘N’ Roll Books/SCB Distribution, Colossus Books, Cherry Red Books, and Transworld Publishing Japan among others. My catalog of titles, profiled in the ‘Published Books’ section of this site- which includes the trade-marked 'In the Studio' book series- have received media coverage in such national publications as USA Today, MTV.com, Vibe Magazine, Publisher’s Weekly, Ebony Magazine, Revolver Magazine, The New York Post, The Howard Stern Radio Show, Maxim Magazine, Blender Magazine, and Bloomberg TV and the Fuse Television Network, among many others. ** 2010 Nominee for 2010 Association for Recorded Sound Collections Awards in category of category of Excellence in Historical Recorded Sound Research.

Among the other titles I write includes the ‘In the Studio’ book series, which includes authorized titles with legendary female rock band Heart, late hip-hop icon Tupac Shakur, and heavy metal legends Motorhead among others, in addition to working as a credited author on late funk icon Rick James’ authorized autobiography, ‘Confessions of a Superfreak’ and am currently co-writing founding Guns N' Roses' guitarist Tracii Guns' authorized memoir. My recently published titles include 'Tori Amos: in the Studio,' published by ECW Press in June, 2011; 'The Autobiography of Lil Wayne', published by Amber Books in June, 2011; 'Iron Maiden: in the Studio', published by John Blake Publishing in July, 2011; and 'Tom Waits: in the Studio', published by Cherry Red Books in October, 2011. Heading into 2012, I'm currently wrapping up work on my 600-page record producers' anthology, 'Behind the Boards,' which Hal Leonard Publishing will release in September of 2012; an as-yet untitled biography on Lady Gaga coming in June, 2012 from Amber Books; and a couple exciting projects that I'll have more info on in the near future.
